Facebook has become one of the most successful social networks of our time as of yet. We post and share an exuberant amount of intimate details about our lives that usually we wouldn't share with such ease. Granted Facebook does have privacy settings and we figure if they are set correctly that we are safe. This very well may not be the case.
The reality is we don't know who's really looking at our information. Our friend's account could have been hacked when they installed an application, or even our own. To protect the safety of you and your family, below is some information that you should never post or share with Facebook.
How elated we are when we receive “happy birthdays” from our friends on our Facebook wall. However when you list your birthday you are allowing yourself to become vulnerable to identity thieves. Think about it, you are openly providing them with one of the 3 or 4 pieces of personal information that is essential to steal your identity. BOTTOMLINE keep your personal information confidential. If you do put your birthday at least leave out the year you were born, those close to you should already know.
Regardless whether you are in a relationship or not, it may be in your best interest to make that unknown to the public. STALKERS DO EXIST, PEOPLE ARE CRAZY AND DERANGED, NOT EVERYONE LIKES THE IDEA OF YOU AND YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER AND MAY WANT TO HARM YOU OR THEM. Don't invite creeps into your life. Spare yourself the headache.
3. DO NOT UPDATE YOUR CURRENT LOCATION
Some people love the location tagging feature on Facebook that allows them to let people know where they are 24/7. Here is where the problem comes in you just told everyone that you're on vacation (and not at your house). In addition to that lets just say you add how long your trip is, you are letting thieves know exactly how much time they have to rob you. I would advise you not to disclose your location at all. You can always upload your vacation pictures when you get home. Also when you make post letting people know when your on your way to or from your 9-5 your letting people know your schedule which also makes you vulnerable to undesirable circumstances.Home Alone 2 Funny Scenes Home Alone Deleted Scenes Home Alone Funny Scenes Home Alone Best Scenes |
4. Do Not Make Statuses About You Being Home Alone
It's extremely important that parents make sure their children never put the fact that they're home alone. If you wouldn't tell a complete stranger your going to be home alone don't tell Facebook either. We may think that only our friends have access to our statuses, but we really have no idea who is reading it.
5. Do Not Tag Pictures Of Your Kids With Their Names
5. Pictures of Your Kids Tagged With Their Names
Most people post hundreds of tagged pictures and videos of their kids to Facebook without even giving it a second thought. We even go so far as to replace our profile pictures with those of our children.
Probably 9 out of 10 parents posted their child’s full name, and exact date and time of birth while they were still in the hospital after delivery. We post pictures of our kids and tag them and their friends, siblings, and other relatives. This kind of information could be used by predators to lure your child. They could use your child’s name and the names of their relatives and friends to build trust and convince them that they are not really a stranger because they know detailed information that allows them to build a rapport with your child.
